FYP 1 || WEEK :: 7


Title of activity :  Research in detail sensor that use in this  project.

Objective : 
  1. To find the good sensor that use in this project.
  2. To get more understanding about how the circuit sensor work in this project.

Content/procedure :
         For this week, I will research the sensor to be used in this project. From my research, I found two sensors are very good quality for use in the detection of light. Its sensor is  Light Dependant Resistor (LDR)  and Photodiode. I have decided to use the LDR because reading is very accurate and durable.


Result and analysis :
            LDRs or Light Dependent Resistors are very useful especially in light/dark sensor circuits. Normally the resistance of an LDR is very high, sometimes as high as 1000 000 ohms, but when they are illuminated with light resistance drops dramatically.

The circuit for Light Dependant Resistor (LDR)

When the light level is low the resistance of the LDR is high. This prevents current from flowing to the base of the transistors. Consequently the LED does not light. However, when light shines onto the LDR its resistance falls and current flows into the base of the first transistor and then the second transistor. The LED lights. The preset resistor can be turned up or down to increase or decrease resistance, in this way it can make the circuit more or less sensitive.

Benefits

There are many great benefits to light dependent resistors. They allow less power to be used in many different kinds of lights. They help lights last much longer. They can be trigged by several different kinds of triggers, which is very useful for motion lights and security systems. They are also very useful in watches and cars so that the lights can turn on automatically when it becomes dark. There are a lot of things that light dependent resistors can do. A light dependent resistor saves money and time for any creation that needs a change in light. Another feature of the light dependent resistor is that it can be programmed to turn on with changes in movements. This is an extremely useful feature that many security systems employ.

Conclusion :           
        From this week, I can conclude that our objective successful. I already find the good sensor that will use in this project and also understand the circuit function. for next week I will research about controller that use in this project.
